Description
Hi! 👋 I'm Fran and I created Music Maestros in 2024. As part of my business I offer private piano lessons 🎹
I started playing the piano at 10 years old and fell in love with it. In those days, there was a heavy focus on exams so I played predominantly classical music and completed all of my grades with the Royal Irish Academy of Ireland. I also did music in university, completing a Bachelors of Music Degree and a Masters in Music through NUI Maynooth.
My philosophy when it comes to teaching children is to keep them engaged. Piano, just like any hobby or interest, won't be for everyone. It's something you won't get much out of if you don't do some practice. In a world where screen stimulation and instant gratification is everywhere, the piano becomes a much more difficult thing to learn and to teach.
Here's how I go about this:
🎶Give children decision-making power over a lot of the repertoire we play, keeping their interest by letting them learn pieces they would love to be able to play.
🎶Take 5 minutes for a quick learning game during some of our lessons, pushing them to learn about piano goeography / music theory in a fun, pressure-free way.
🎶Keep exams as an optional but not mandatory part of our lessons. If someone wants to sit an exam that is brilliant, but if someone wants to learn without exams they should do so. Exams can always be sat at a later date and do not have to be done sequentially (i.e. someone could start their exams at Grade 2, or at any other grade, if they wanted to).
Where and when I do piano lessons:
📍Chapelizod
🗓️Tuesday - Friday
⏱️2-5:30pm
Lessons can be arranged as 1:1 sessions or "buddy" classes. Lessons are booked in advance term-by-term but a 2-week trial period is available to book before committing to a full term!
What's a "buddy" lesson?
If you have 2 children (or if your child has a friend!) they can attend piano lessons together for a reduced price per child.
What's included in the price?
Everything. You will not be asked to purchase any method books or sheet music for your child*. I supply all practice materials.
*If your child decides at some point in the future that they would like to sit exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), you would need to purchase a RIAM exam book and pay an exam fee to RIAM in order to do this.
Here's what people have said about my piano lessons 🥰:
💫"“My 9 year old has been going to Fran for piano lessons. She left her first lesson saying that she loved it & still loves it! Fran is so friendly & welcoming & good with kids & tailors the lessons to the kids music tastes. I would 100% recommend Fran & her 1:1 teaching.”
💫“My lessons with Fran have been so helpful in starting to learn piano. Fran is very patient, correcting my mistakes gently rather than harshly, and does a great job of keeping lessons feeling fun rather than a chore. She is also very attentive, keeping an eye on what parts are easier for me and which need more attention, then providing different techniques or even adjusted sheet music to make sure I’m continuing to learn. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fran as a piano tutor and fully intend to take more lessons with her myself.”
